Thulamela’s Counsel have an exceptional range of related expertise in administrative law, constitutional law, commercial law and economics, EU and international law, criminal law and labour law, all of which complement competition law. Our members have engaged with matters covering most sectors of the economy.
Labour Law

Its labour Counsel can provide assistance, across the entire breadth of the South African Labour Law landscape, to individuals, small businesses, large corporate firms and government.
Public Law
Thulamela Chambers has an unrivalled reputation for excellence in public law. Our junior and senior members frequently appear, on both sides of the courtroom, in the cases that shape South Africa’s constitutional landscape. Our members are also a regular feature in the Constitutional Court (where many of our members began their legal careers as clerks), as well as the Supreme Court of Appeal, the High Court and a number of regulatory and other tribunals.
Pro Bono and Public Interest
The Pro Bono and Public Interest Committee is mandated to encourage and facilitate the provision of pro bono and public interest work within Thulamela. The members of our Group recognise that by undertaking pro bono work and assisting public interest organisations, advocates can meaningfully contribute to social transformation and access to justice and legal services in South Africa.
Health Law
Medical negligence is an area of personal injury litigation that is on the rise and has a tremendous impact on the funding of health care and the delivery of health care. Thulamela counsel have been acting on the part of plaintiffs and defendants in this complex and challenging area of law.
