Thulamela Chambers 10 Year Anniversary Events

This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the founding of Thulamela Chambers. To celebrate this momentous event, we have arranged a number of events to take the opportunity to define, reflect on, and express what its legacy means for present, past and future members by hosting a 3-part Legacy Series.

In Part 1, we hosted a Founder’s Fireside discussion. This was the first instalment of our Legacy Series where we reflected on the vision and mission that informed the establishment of Thulamela Chambers; engaged in discussion with our senior founding members and asked ourselves “where are we now”?

In Part 2, we hosted a Thulamela Woman Judges’ Roundtable and were on 18 May 2023 and were joined by Honourable Justice Keightley, Opperman, Yacoob, Noman and Cowen as we celebrate our former members who have been elevated to the bench. We also look forward to honouring Kgomotso Moroka SC, the first black woman to take silk, for her contributions to the profession.

In Part 3, the final part of the Thulamela Legacy Series, we look at shaping the future of Thulamela from the perspective of our junior members. We view this as an opportunity to consider what we aim to achieve in the next decade and discuss advances in the profession.
