Irene was called to the Johannesburg Bar in 2024 and is a member of Thulamela Chambers. Her preferred specialities are Tax, Labour, Business Rescue, Insolvency, Asset Forfeiture, Economic Crime, Fraud Risk Management, and State Capture-related matters. Previously, she worked in the property law space before joining the National Prosecuting Authority's Investigating Directorate, focusing on complex economic crime, tax-related prosecutions, grand corruption, extraditions, mutual legal assistance, and international cooperation.
